Radelaide.....Not!

Ok next stop on the Australian Poker Tournament schedule for me was in Adelaide.

But before we get to that I am officially allowed to announce that I am now a Full Tilt Red Pro!!!!!
Whoooohoooooo!  I have been working really hard on my results and my profile especially on the live scene and to say that I am excited about the sponsorship would be an understatement.

Anyway the excitement must have clouded my mind and I suddenly think that everything is fun and exciting.  So I come up with the idea of a roadtrip to Adelaide rather than flying!  I know it is crazy especially as it is a really boring drive.  To make matters worse we cram 3 of us (myself, Jamie and Fabian (one of Jamie's clients from Germany and now friend)) into my small Mitsubishi Mirage.  Now if you know anything about cars you would find it hard to picture being comfortable with all three of us in the car for a 9 hr drive but add to that all our luggage, laptops, and Jamie's Golf clubs and the picture gets worse.

We head off early in the morning and the boys are tired so I volunteer to drive first. BIG Mistake.  Fabian is not comfortable driving the manual in a strange country and Jamie decides 2 hours into the drive that he does not feel that well.  Anyway I convince Jamie to have a turn and he drives for less than 1 hr before saying he feels too sick to drive.  In the end I end up driving the entire way less Jamies dismal effort of 50 mins.

Not really good preparation for a tournament but we get there safely and I decide that I will be ready to play the main event the following day.

I bust out of the main event the following day but we are stuck in Adelaide because Jamie has work with his Golf Clients.
I try to find some fun in this City and end up going Karting with some of the poker boys.  This is my second time Go Karting and there are 4 boys and 1 girl and who ends up winning the Go Karts!  Yes me of course.  The guy running the track comes up to me and is very impressed with my Karting skills.  Maybe I could be a Red Pro/ Go Karter????? Anyway just for the purpose of name and shame the boys who lost where:

Brendon Rubie
Kristian Lunardi
Andy Hinrichsen and
Liam O'Rourke

Shame shame shame

I went to the beach another day and thought about whether or not to play the high roller event later in the week.  I decided against playing but I think they only got 12 runners anyway.

So to top off a boring week in Adelaide we had to drive home.  Fabian was smart and got on a plane to visit Sydney.  I thought seriously about trying to sell the car and get on the plane myself but in the end we just sucked it up and headed back home.

P.S I am sorry that this blog is boring but what can I do.
the drive was boring
the poker was boring
and yes I hate to admit it but Adelaide was boring.

Aussie Millions

Aussie Millions the Good, the Bad and the Parties!!!!!!

Yep, we are definately Aussies!
Laraine Gillen, Jonathan Karamilikis and Me!

Well it has been ages since I blogged so I thought I better get back onto it.
Aussie Millions had its share of disappointments for me but it was also a time to celebrate due to some great news I received during the series that I had been working really hard towards.

Aussie Millions Opening Party.
As always the opening night was heaps of fun at Breezes.  This is my favourite party of the tournament series.

Me, Tony G and Rebecca Curtis (aka Party Animal!) at the Opening Party.

I played a full schedule of events starting with the opening event.  It was a good start with a cash in this event and I was excited to see if I could continue with some more cashes with my primary focus obviously being the main event.
Sadly it was not meant to be.

Oh but I did final the table of the Celebrity Event.  Haha.

The best Mental Conditioning Coach in the Business (my husband Jamie) and Me at the Celebrity event.

The tournament I had the most fun in was the $1100.00 PLO tournament.  I really enjoyed this tournament as I had no expectations on the result due to the fact that I really am not a PLO player.  After sitting in the bar having a few quiet drinks with friends the night before the tournament it was decided that I "should definately be playing the PLO."  Sorry but I don't really feel like giving away $1100.00 of my bankroll on a game that I have zero edge.  To cut the story short the guys at the bar decided I was worth the risk and put together the $1100.00 for me to play and generously still gave me 20% of myself!

Check out the video interview from this event. So funny!

Now on a more serious note the Main Event.

Had a great Day One Table.  Mel Judah, Chris Ferguson and Joe Hachem.  I seriously love tables like this and by the third level I had taken my starting stack from 20k to nearly 30k by three and four betting and playing a pretty agro style while not really risking a lot of chips and hardly ever having to show any cards.  A middle aged guy at the table obviously got a bit frustrated with my game style.
Blinds are 150/300 and he raises from the cut off to 800. (This guy also has a massive tell in the way he places his bets and before I even look at my cards I have decided he has rubbish)  Joe Hachem is directly to his left and he decides to call.  I look at my cards in the small blind and wooohooo I have aces!  Now I know this guy is getting frustrated with me as I have continually been reraising his opening bets.  Perfect.  I hope he has an ego enough to try and play back at me but it is still pretty early in the tournament.
I reraise to 2000k.
It is folded around to this guy and he thinks for like 5 seconds before going all in!  Now I am really excited!  He has over 15k in chips which is over 50 big blinds and if my aces hold I will be at 45k and it is only the third level.
Joe gets out of the way and I obviously call and turn over my aces.
Drum roll..................He turns over Jack Three.  WTF!
Anyway he spikes a 3 on the flop and I get that horrible feeling in my gut when you just know it is going to turn to shit and he gets up off his chair to yell "CMON!"  The running Jacks on the turn and river allow him to scoop the 32k + pot and then he decides to scream out "Shipppp Itttttt!"
So annoying.  Anyway I drop down to just over 13k and get away from the table to calm down a bit before playing anymore hands.
The rest of the day is pretty uneventful and my stack yo-yos up and down but I never get back over starting stack until right near the end of the last level when I move up to 21900.  Such a disappointing day considering how well I played.

Day 2 never really got started for me and I get knocked out pretty early in the day.
The disappointment is huge when you get knocked out of an event that means heaps to you and I took some time to reflect on the event and think about any mistakes, and try and learn from them, but I also tried to concentrate on the positive plays I made as well.

I played the Bounty Event (and had the Bounty around my neck) and the last Six handed Event but again busted from both before the money. No time to stay too sad as I had been just offered a massive opportunity and also had the farewell party to celebrate.  The photos from the farewell party will probably clue you in to the good news!

Farewell Party = Awesome night!
